Profile of The Kurji Ramji Group Management Team
Mr Kalyan Kurji Patel, G.O.S.K, F.R.S.A, is the Chairman of the Group and Managing Director of the companies in Mauritius. He was decorated with the title of G.O.S.K by the Government of Mauritius for distinguished services to the construction industry. He was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (UK) on the 18th November 2005. He was listed in the Who’s Who Annual publications in the year 1998. He is a member of the World Organisation of Building Officials (associated with the United Nations).
He came to Mauritius in 1973 at a time when the construction industry was under the monopoly of a few. He successfully completed his first building contract in Mauritius – The La Pirogue Hotel Contract and over the years he has to his credit, the completion of several major building and civil engineering contracts. He has over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry and commerce. He was instrumental in the establishment of the companies in Mauritius and Seychelles and their rapid growth over the years. He spearheaded the successful diversification of the other activities of the Group.
Mr. Lalji Kurji Patel is a Managing Director of the companies in Mauritius and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Group. He is a member of the World Organisation of Building Officials (associated with the United Nations). He has over 37 years’ experience in the construction industry and in commerce. He has a vast experience in both Building & Civil Engineering works for having executed several major works in Mauritius and Rodrigues. He has an excellent command of estimating and cost control. He is well versed in the major international Building and Civil Engineering Forms of Contract. Under his impetus, the Group developed a highly organised structure for its Timber, Metal, Welding and Mechanical workshops. He was also instrumental in the development of the Group’s property development and trading sectors.
Mr. Harish Kurji Patel, B.Sc (Civil Eng.)
Mr Harish Kurji Patel is the holder of B.Sc (Civil Eng.) from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is a Managing Director of the companies in Mauritius and Seychelles and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Group. He is a member of the World Organisation of Building Officials (associated with the United Nations). He has over 22 years experience in the construction industry and commerce and in the manufacturing of Aluminium openings and claddings. As a Managing Director and Project Manager, he has successfully completed several major building contracts of high rise buildings, hospitals and hotels. Under his directorship, Allied Aluminium Products Ltd (the manufacturing unit for Aluminium openings and claddings within the group) has built up a solid and enviable reputation and is experiencing a very healthy growth.
Mr. Pravin Darad, B.E (Civil Eng.), is qualified as an Engineer. He holds the following degrees and diplomas, namely, B.E (Civil Eng.), C. Eng (India), A.CIArb (UK), MB Eng (UK), F.I.V (India), I.C.I.O.B (S.A). He is a member of the World Organization of Building Officials (associated with the United Nations). He has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, Hotel industry and international trade. He is the Managing Director of the companies of the group in Seychelles and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Seychelles companies.
He joined the group as a young Engineer. He was posted to Rodrigues, one of the dependencies of Mauritius, with the responsibility for establishing the group’s construction activity. Under his management, the construction activity grew from strength to strength and experienced a very healthy progression over the years. Apart from the successful execution of several major building and civil engineering works, he was instrumental in the construction of an impressive administrative building and infrastructure and acquisition of land for the Group.
After his tenure of office in Rodrigues, he was posted to Seychelles as the Managing Director. Under his dynamic directorship and management, the Group’s activities in the Construction, Property Development and Hotel and Leisure Industry sectors have experienced a phenomenal growth. Right from the beginning, he implemented stringent administrative and site control systems which have played a key role in sustaining and helping the successful growth of the Group’s activities in Seychelles.
Mr. Vinay Kalyan Patel, LLB (Hons), M.Sc. is a Barrister at Law. He holds an LLB (Hons) Law degree from Brunel University, UK, and an M.Sc. in Construction Law and Arbitration from King’s College, London (UK) and a Bar At Law from Inns of Court School of Law, London (UK). He is a member of the Honourable Society of Middle Temple. He is also a member of the World Organization of Building Officials (associated with the United Nations).
He is a Director and a member of the Board of Directors of the companies in Seychelles. He joined the Group after spending over 10 years in the UK working at leading barristers’ chambers, law firms and in-house legal departments of large multinational corporations. He specialises in various areas of law including Construction, Energy, Dispute Resolution, Company and Commercial. His focus remains to promote the activities and growth of the Group internationally. His legal, business experience and negotiating ability is a valuable asset to the Group.
